Progress

We're making a lot of progress but I wish things would go faster. I'm the kind of person that likes to finish one thing before starting another but that's not how remodels go.

We had to stop work to fix a hole in the roof. I'm glad we found it before the new drywall went up so it was great that it rained.

I'm slowly getting the jungle mowed. I have to walk back and forth looking for debris. I can't believe the first time I mowed I walked several times in the area looking for stuff, got on the mower and after about 10' hit a hog panel laying in the grass. I don't know how I missed it. The mower's fine but it stopped it cold.

We're putting everything back together now but still not living there. We're running water lines this week so I can move in. It will be easier to work on stuff if I'm there all the time. Then this house has to get on the market.

My wonderful neighbor from in town came out and cleaned off a flower bed for me. She also brought some ribbon grass and planted along the drive. I wish she could move with me.

These are a few before and during pics. Soon I'll have done pics :)

Water, water everywhere

Water does run downhill and when in ceilings and walls it runs all over. I was thinking disaster when we had to keep tearing out more and more. Then I looked around and realized I now (or someday) will have a huge bathroom/laundry room. The room next to the bathroom had 2 closets but one of them will fit a washer and dryer with room to spare.
The damaged areas are all removed now except the floor. We have to pull up all the boards and check the subfloor. I'm sure it's bad so it will be down to the joists. This is fun so far but a lot of work.
I've been pulling cocklebur plants out on my "breaks".

Keys

I got the keys to my new place today! Now the work begins.
My son is helping me and the first thing we're doing is gutting the mainfloor bathroom. It has a lot of water damage. We have to run new water lines and install a new shower, toilet and sink. Tearing it apart is easy, putting it back together will be the hard part. I also have to fix fences so I can bring my dogs out. I don't want them running onto the road. I'm not sure how busy it is but they need to stay safe. They are going to love all this room. I'm going to love all this room.

anxious and excited

My place in the country. No lights or sirens or noise. This is what I've wanted my whole life. The reality will set in Tues when I close on the loan and get the keys. I'll see if I can really do the work to make the house livable and maybe tame the property in my spare time.
I've looked at acreages before and people have always talked me out of it because of all the "work" involved. I'm ready now and it's going to be beautiful..............
